Showback lists what each value of a tag, such as each team or customer, spent in a period. It adds each value’s direct spend to its share of shared spend, which you split with rules. Open Cost in the sidebar and select the Showback tab. Choose a Tag key: a provider tag or a virtual tag. Then choose Billed for your bills, or Kubernetes allocation to split clusters into namespaces and workloads.

Read showback

Each row is one value of the key. The following table describes the columns. Spend with no value for the key appears as Unallocated. Allocation coverage helps you shrink it. Select a value to open its statement: its direct spend by service, and the shared spend it received, or gave away, by split rule. The lines add up to the value’s row. Figures are gross, before credits and refunds. CostGraph recomputes them under the current rules every time you read them, so a closed month can change when its bill is restated.

Split shared costs

A split rule moves the spend of a shared value, such as team:platform, onto other values of the same key.
1

Open the key

Go to Settings > Virtual tags, open the key’s menu, and select Shared cost splits.
2

Add a split

Choose the Shared value, its Targets, and the Split method: Evenly, Fixed percents, or in proportion to each target’s own spend.
3

Choose when it starts

Set Effective from to the month the rule starts, and click Save split.
A rule applies from its month until a later rule for the same value starts. CostGraph splits the previous period under the rules in force at the end of the selected period. That way, the change reflects spend, not a rule change.

Export

Use Actions to download the showback as CSV or Excel, with one row per value, the unallocated row, and a total row. A value’s statement downloads the same way.

API

Read showback with GET /api/v1/tenant/cost/showback?tag_key=<key> in the CostGraph API, and one value’s statement with GET /api/v1/tenant/cost/showback/{value}. Both work with an API key that has the focus:read scope and take the same period and filters as cost queries. Add format=csv or format=xlsx for a file.
