# Price in use

> HTTP 409, code price_in_use

<Note>The problem document's `type` field points here: `https://docs.costgraph.ai/pricing/errors/price_in_use`</Note>

```json theme={null}
{
  "type": "https://docs.costgraph.ai/pricing/errors/price_in_use",
  "title": "Price in use",
  "status": 409,
  "code": "price_in_use",
  "affected": [
    { "kind": "virtual_machine", "id": "<id>", "name": "<name>" }
  ]
}
```

## When you see it

You tried to delete a compute or disk price that is still assigned to machines or volumes. `affected` lists each one with its `kind`, `id` and `name`. If a delete races a new assignment, the error can come back with an empty `affected` list.

## What to do

Unassign the price from each listed resource, for example by setting the machine back to automatic pricing, then delete the price again. Resources that were matched to the price automatically are released when it is deleted and do not block it.
