# Runloop sandboxes

> Run CostGraph workflows and CI jobs in Runloop sandboxes: the key to create, its permissions, and its limits

Runloop Devboxes are managed, isolated Linux sandbox environments for AI coding agents that can run, suspend, resume and shut down.

The following table shows what CostGraph runs on this provider.

| Workflows | CI runners | Connect with |
| - | - | - |
| Yes | Yes | Integrations or your own dispatcher |

## Connect

Connect Runloop on Integrations, and CostGraph starts sandboxes in your Runloop account. You don't run anything yourself.

1. In CostGraph, go to **Integrations > Sandbox > Runloop**.

2. Enter these fields:

   * **API key** (`RUNLOOP_API_KEY`, required): A Runloop API key from the Runloop dashboard.

3. Click **Connect**.

For CI runners, CostGraph picks the smallest Runloop size class that fits. `providerTemplate` takes a blueprint (`bpt_...`) or snapshot (`snp_...`) id.

### Your own dispatcher

To keep the key out of CostGraph or reach a private network, run your own dispatcher instead.
Set `provider` to `runloop` and the preceding fields as environment variables, as described in [Run your own dispatcher](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/workflows/managed-sandboxes.md#run-your-own-dispatcher).

To see what Runloop costs, connect the [Runloop integration](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/integrations/runloop.md).

## Key and permissions

RUNLOOP\_API\_KEY is a Runloop API key, created only in the Runloop dashboard (secret shown once, optional expiry). Secret keys are ak\_..., restricted keys rk\_....

Use a restricted key (rk\_): per resource type None/Read/Write, unconfigured types default to None, scopes not editable after creation. Minimum: Devboxes = Write (Blueprints/Snapshots = Read only if launching from them). Secret keys (ak\_) grant full account access.

## Limits

* Default devbox lifetime 1 hour, configurable at create via keep\_alive\_time\_seconds (no maximum stated); idle policy is opt-in (lifecycle.after\_idle, suspend or shutdown); use one or the other, not both. ([source](https://docs.runloop.ai/docs/devboxes/start-stop))
* Pro Trial: 3 concurrent running devboxes, X Small/Small/Medium only, max keep-alive 1 hour. ([source](https://docs.runloop.ai/docs/overview/your-runloop-trial))
* Sizes up to XX\_LARGE 8 vCPU/32 GB; CUSTOM\_SIZE up to 16 vCPU, 64 GiB RAM, 64 GiB disk. ([source](https://docs.runloop.ai/docs/devboxes/configuration/sizes))
* Architectures x86\_64 (default) and arm64; blueprints must match the devbox architecture. ([source](https://docs.runloop.ai/docs/devboxes/configuration/devbox-architecture))
