# Quilt sandboxes

> Run CostGraph workflows and CI jobs in Quilt sandboxes: the key to create, its permissions, and its limits

Quilt is a container API (create, start, stop, snapshot, fork, exec, delete under /api/containers, default backend [https://backend.quilt.sh](https://backend.quilt.sh)) used as tenant-scoped Linux sandboxes.

The following table shows what CostGraph runs on this provider.

CI runners: no. AutoPilot compares runners by price, and this provider publishes no sandbox price.

## Connect

Connect Quilt on Integrations, and CostGraph starts sandboxes in your Quilt account. You don't run anything yourself.

1. In CostGraph, go to **Integrations > Sandbox > Quilt**.

2. Enter these fields:

   * **API URL** (`QUILT_BASE_URL`, required): The address of your Quilt backend.
   * **API key** (`QUILT_API_KEY`, required): Your Quilt API key.

3. Click **Connect**.

### Your own dispatcher

To keep the key out of CostGraph or reach a private network, run your own dispatcher instead.
Set `provider` to `quilt` and the preceding fields as environment variables, as described in [Run your own dispatcher](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/workflows/managed-sandboxes.md#run-your-own-dispatcher).

## Key and permissions

QUILT\_BASE\_URL is the Quilt backend URL (docs example [https://backend.quilt.sh](https://backend.quilt.sh)). QUILT\_API\_KEY is sent as X-Api-Key; QUILT\_ACCESS\_TOKEN is a bearer token (Authorization: Bearer). Where to create either: not documented in any reachable source.

The provider doesn't document key scopes or roles. Snapshot operations also need a tenant id (`X-Tenant-Id`).
