# Islo sandboxes

> Run CostGraph workflows and CI jobs in Islo sandboxes: the key to create, its permissions, and its limits

Islo runs isolated sandbox VMs (used by its agent 'factories') that you create, exec in, pause and delete through its API, SDKs and CLI.

The following table shows what CostGraph runs on this provider.

| Workflows | CI runners | Connect with |
| - | - | - |
| Yes | Yes | Integrations or your own dispatcher |

## Connect

Connect Islo on Integrations, and CostGraph starts sandboxes in your Islo account. You don't run anything yourself.

1. In CostGraph, go to **Integrations > Sandbox > Islo**.

2. Enter these fields:

   * **API key** (`ISLO_API_KEY`, required): An Islo API key, created with islo api-key create.
   * **Compute URL** (`ISLO_COMPUTE_URL`, optional): A different Islo compute address, if you do not use the default.

3. Click **Connect**.

### Your own dispatcher

To keep the key out of CostGraph or reach a private network, run your own dispatcher instead.
Set `provider` to `islo` and the preceding fields as environment variables, as described in [Run your own dispatcher](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/workflows/managed-sandboxes.md#run-your-own-dispatcher).

## Key and permissions

ISLO\_API\_KEY is an Islo API key (islo\_key\_...), created with `islo api-key create <name>` (optionally `--expires <days>`); shown once.

Keys are not scoped: an API key inherits the permissions of the user who created it. No per-key scopes are documented.

## Limits

* Lifecycle policy (pause\_after\_idle, pause\_after, delete\_after) is opt-in and disabled when omitted; it cannot be changed after creation. ([source](https://docs.islo.dev/concepts/sandbox-lifecycle.md))
* No max vCPU/memory, max lifetime, region or architecture limits are documented on the create-sandbox reference. ([source](https://docs.islo.dev/api-reference/sandboxes/create-sandbox.md))
