# Collimate sandboxes

> Run CostGraph workflows and CI jobs in Collimate sandboxes: the key to create, its permissions, and its limits

Collimate runs hardware-isolated Firecracker microVM sandboxes for agents and RL post-training, with live fork of a running sandbox into many copy-on-write children.

The following table shows what CostGraph runs on this provider.

| Workflows | CI runners | Connect with |
| - | - | - |
| Yes | No | Integrations or your own dispatcher |

CI runners: no. Collimate commands cannot run in the background and stop after 15 minutes, so a runner cannot outlast a short job.

## Connect

Connect Collimate on Integrations, and CostGraph starts sandboxes in your Collimate account. You don't run anything yourself.

1. In CostGraph, go to **Integrations > Sandbox > Collimate**.

2. Enter these fields:

   * **API key** (`COLLIMATE_API_KEY`, required): A Collimate API key from API keys in the Collimate console.

3. Click **Connect**.

### Your own dispatcher

To keep the key out of CostGraph or reach a private network, run your own dispatcher instead.
Set `provider` to `collimate` and the preceding fields as environment variables, as described in [Run your own dispatcher](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/workflows/managed-sandboxes.md#run-your-own-dispatcher).

To see what Collimate costs, connect the [Collimate integration](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/integrations/collimate.md).

## Key and permissions

COLLIMATE\_API\_KEY is a Collimate API key (col\_\<tier>*\<id>*\<secret>), created in the Collimate console under API keys > Create after signing in with Google or GitHub; shown once, revocable in the console.

Keys are not scoped: 'it carries your tenant's access' (full access to the tenant). Tier and limits come from the server-side key record.

## Limits

* Max session duration: Demo 1 hour, Pro 24 hours, Enterprise unlimited; 'a sandbox that outlives your tier's max session is reaped.' Suspending frees the slot and stops the meter. ([source](https://docs.collimate.ai/reference/limits/))
* Concurrent sandboxes: Demo 2, Pro no limit, Enterprise unlimited. ([source](https://docs.collimate.ai/start/authentication/))
* Per-sandbox vCPU/RAM caps are not documented; capacity is platform-managed. ([source](https://docs.collimate.ai/reference/limits/))
