# Buddy sandboxes

> Run CostGraph workflows and CI jobs in Buddy sandboxes: the key to create, its permissions, and its limits

Buddy Sandboxes are isolated Ubuntu Linux machines in Buddy's cloud with their own CPU/RAM, a persistent 50 GB disk and public endpoints, managed over REST, SDK, MCP or the bdy CLI.

The following table shows what CostGraph runs on this provider.

| Workflows | CI runners | Connect with |
| - | - | - |
| Yes | No | Integrations or your own dispatcher |

CI runners: no. AutoPilot compares runners by price, and this provider publishes no sandbox price.

## Connect

Connect Buddy on Integrations, and CostGraph starts sandboxes in your Buddy account. You don't run anything yourself.

1. In CostGraph, go to **Integrations > Sandbox > Buddy**.

2. Enter these fields:

   * **Personal access token** (`BUDDY_TOKEN`, required): A Buddy personal access token.
   * **Workspace** (`BUDDY_WORKSPACE`, required): The Buddy workspace domain.
   * **Project** (`BUDDY_PROJECT`, required): The Buddy project sandboxes are created in.

3. Click **Connect**.

### Your own dispatcher

To keep the key out of CostGraph or reach a private network, run your own dispatcher instead.
Set `provider` to `buddy` and the preceding fields as environment variables, as described in [Run your own dispatcher](https://docs.costgraph.ai/costgraph/workflows/managed-sandboxes.md#run-your-own-dispatcher).

## Key and permissions

BUDDY\_TOKEN is a Buddy personal access token (app.buddy.works/my-id/tokens). BUDDY\_WORKSPACE is the workspace domain/name and BUDDY\_PROJECT the project name in which sandboxes are created.

Token scopes: SANDBOX\_WRITE (create, exec), SANDBOX\_READ (list, get command results) and SANDBOX\_MANAGE (delete). The SDK docs: 'The token needs the SANDBOX\_READ and SANDBOX\_WRITE scopes (add SANDBOX\_MANAGE if you also delete sandboxes or snapshots).'

## Limits

* No inactivity timeout by default. If one is set, a command resets it only when it starts: `a process left running in the background afterwards does not keep resetting it.` ([source](https://buddy.works/docs/sandboxes/lifecycle.md))
* Resources from 1 CPU / 2 GB up to 12 CPU / 24 GB (default 2x4); disk fixed at 50 GB; Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04. ([source](https://buddy.works/docs/sandboxes/configuration.md))
* Regions: US (default), EU and AS. ([source](https://buddy.works/docs/sandboxes/sdk.md))
