# AI and your data

> What the CostGraph Slack app sends to its AI model, what it keeps, and who can see answers

The CostGraph app answers questions in Slack with Graph AI, an AI assistant that reads your CostGraph data and writes a reply.

## What the model receives

When you ask a question, CostGraph sends the following to the model:

* The text of your message.
* Your earlier questions and answers in the same Slack thread, so follow-up questions have context.
* The CostGraph data that Graph AI reads to answer, such as cost, recommendations, and anomalies.

The app only receives messages that mention `@costgraph` or that you send to the app directly. It doesn't read your other Slack conversations.

## Model provider

Graph AI uses Claude models from Anthropic, accessed through OpenRouter.

CostGraph doesn't use your Slack messages to train AI models.

## Who can see your data

Every answer runs as your own CostGraph account, in the tenant you selected, with your role. Graph AI can only read data you can already see in the dashboard. It can't read another person's tenant or another organization's data.

Answers in a direct message are visible only to you. Answers in a channel are visible to everyone in the channel.

## What CostGraph stores

| Workspace installation | Lets the app reply in your workspace | When an organization owner or admin removes the workspace |
| Link between your Slack and CostGraph accounts | Runs answers as your CostGraph account | When you disconnect, or when the workspace is removed |
| Conversation history for each Slack thread | Gives follow-up questions context | When you disconnect in Slack or the workspace is removed. If you are disconnected in CostGraph instead, within an hour. |
