# Reports

> Describe a dashboard, let Graph AI build it, and keep it, schedule it, or export it

A report is a dashboard you keep. You describe what you want to see, Graph AI
builds it from your spend and usage data, and CostGraph saves it. Each report
keeps its own Graph AI conversation, so you change it by asking.

Open **Reports** in the sidebar to see your reports as cards, each with a
preview, its name, when it was last updated, and who created it. Search by name
with **Search reports**.

## Create a report

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start a report">
    On **Reports**, click **Create report**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Describe it">
    Describe the dashboard you want, such as "Break down my compute costs for
    the last 30 days", or select one of the suggestions. Graph AI builds the
    report and CostGraph saves it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it">
    Click the title, **Untitled report**, to rename it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can also add a chart or table from a Graph AI chat to an existing report.
Select **Add to a report** on the chat result and pick the report. CostGraph
adds it to the end of the report.

## Edit a report

A report is a grid of widgets: charts, tables, and headings. Charts follow the
report's time period.

Click **Edit report** to change it. While editing, you can:

* Describe a chart to add in an empty cell, or select widgets and describe how
  to change them.
* Move, resize, expand, or delete widgets, and edit headings.
* Open the Graph AI panel to keep working on the report in conversation.

Click **Done editing** when you finish. Every save creates a version. If
someone else saved the report while you were editing, CostGraph tells you
instead of overwriting their change.

## Version history

Open the report's actions menu and select **Version history** to see earlier
versions. Select one to preview it, then click **Restore this version** to make
it current, or **Back to current** to leave it.

## Export

The report's actions menu exports the report as:

| Format | Contains |
| - | - |
| **Image (PNG)** | The report as it looks on screen |
| **PDF** | The report, through your browser's print dialog |
| **Excel** | One sheet per table in the report |
| **CSV** | One CSV file per table, in a zip file |

## Schedule a report

Click **Schedule** to email a report on a regular basis. Choose how often it
**Repeats** (**Daily**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly**), the **Time** and
**Timezone**, and whether to attach the tables as **Excel** or **CSV**. Click
**Save schedule**. The button then reads **Scheduled**, and the popover shows
the next send.

Each send emails you a summary with a chart and a link to the report.
Organization owners and admins can also send it to an
[alert destination](/costgraph/alerts/destinations) under **Also send to**.

A schedule belongs to the person who set it. Click **Send now** to send it
immediately, or **Remove** to stop it. A schedule pauses if the report is
deleted or you lose access to its tenant.

## Manage reports

On the **Reports** page, open a card's menu to **Rename**, **Duplicate**, or
**Delete** a report. A duplicate copies the report and its Graph AI
conversation, so you can take it in a different direction.

New reports are private to the person who created them.

## API and Graph AI

Reports are available in the [CostGraph API](/api-reference/costgraph/introduction)
under `/api/v1/tenant/reports`, for a signed-in member of the tenant. You can
list, create, rename, duplicate, and delete reports, read and restore versions,
export tables, and manage schedules.

Graph AI and the [MCP server](/costgraph/mcp/usage) can list and read your
reports, including their schedules.
