# Anomaly alerts

> When CostGraph tells you about a cost anomaly, who it tells, and how to change it

CostGraph checks your spend for anomalies every hour. How it tells you depends
on the anomaly's severity:

| Severity | When you hear about it | Where |
| - | - | - |
| Critical | Within the hour | Email, plus any [alert destination](/costgraph/alerts/destinations) routed to `cost.anomaly` |
| Warning and info | In the weekly digest | Email |

Every anomaly also appears in [Insights](/costgraph/insights), whatever its
severity.

## Immediate alerts

A critical anomaly sends one alert when it opens. It alerts again if it
reopens or its severity changes, but not more than once a week for the same
anomaly. If many critical anomalies open at the same time, you get the first
five and one summary alert for the rest.

By default, organization owners and admins receive anomaly alerts by email.
Other members can turn them on for themselves. Members only receive alerts for
tenants they can access.

## Weekly digest

The weekly digest lists the warning and info anomalies from the past week. It
arrives on Monday at 08:00 in your organization's time zone. By default,
organization owners and billing admins receive it.

## Change what you receive

Open **Settings > Notifications** in your account settings and switch:

* **Anomaly alerts** for immediate critical alerts.
* **Weekly insight alerts** for the Monday digest.

Every alert email also has an unsubscribe link that turns off that kind of
email for you.

To stop alerts about a specific service or resource, mute the anomaly in
[Insights](/costgraph/insights). Muted anomalies don't alert.
