# Connect an AI gateway

> Creates a connection for a supported AI gateway. No credentials are collected: the gateway reports token usage itself. Naming a cluster makes it a telemetry connection the operator scrapes, and naming an instance makes it one the host agent scrapes; omitting both makes it a push connection you post usage to, and ingest_mode may state that choice explicitly to have it checked rather than inferred. The scrape_* fields override the registry defaults for gateways deployed outside their stock namespace.
